Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) emergencies are mitigated by trained volunteers and career personnel from Bedford County Fire and Rescue agencies as well as those from the Town of Bedford.

Bedford County Fire and Rescue is equipped to mitigate gas leaks, fuel spills, chemical releases, and other incidents involving materials deemed hazardous to life and health.

HAZMAT responders operate under the general direction of the HAZMAT Battalion Chief who works closely with our partners at the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM).
