Training is vital to our mission to protect the lives and property of the citizens and visitors of Bedford County while providing safe, timely, compassionate, effective, and efficient services.

Bedford County Fire and Rescue provides free training courses to Bedford County fire and EMS volunteers who want to become certified as firefighters or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). You must be a volunteer with a local fire department or rescue squad in Bedford County.

For those who are not currently volunteering for a local fire department or rescue squad, there are fees associated with various courses. However, there are potential scholarships available.

Training is coordinated by the Bedford County Fire and Rescue Training Captain.
